Common questions about EYE Beacon
EYE Beacon does not contain GPS. Instead, it continuously broadcasts a unique Bluetooth ID. When a nearby Teltonika GPS tracker (FMC125, FMC920, FMB125 etc.) detects the beacon within range, it records the beacon ID and its own GPS coordinates — effectively reporting the beacon's location at that moment.
At the default 5-second broadcast interval with Tx=2dBm, the 600 mAh CR2450 battery lasts 8+ years. At a 10-second interval it lasts 10+ years. The battery is sealed and not replaceable, but the device is designed to outlast most deployment lifecycles without maintenance.
Any Teltonika GPS tracker with Bluetooth LE support can detect EYE Beacons — including FMC125, FMC920, FMB125, GH5200, and others. The tracker must be configured with the beacon's ID in its whitelist to report sightings to the Aether platform.
EYE Beacon supports iBeacon (Apple), Eddystone (Google), and the Teltonika protocol. The Teltonika protocol additionally reports battery level and magnetic field detection status (on new revision hardware).
