An electric rail-mounted gantry / goliath crane range for heavy-load handling in indoor and outdoor industrial applications. This is a configurable crane family, so final capacity, span, lift height, controls, power feed and fitted components depend on the supplied crane configuration.
Technical details for the ElectroMech double girder gantry / goliath crane range
Daily checks · service schedule · wear limits · lubricants · unsafe conditions.
Complete before the first lift of each shift. Test crane motions without load before loaded operation.
Confirm controllers are OFF and check visible power/control connections.
Act if: a controller is not neutral, a connection is loose or cabling is damaged.
Operate hoisting, cross travel and long travel without load.
Act if: motion direction is wrong, motion is jerky, noisy or unresponsive.
Observe control response during the no-load check without opening live panels.
Act if: contactor chatter, sticking control, arcing, smoke or burnt smell appears.
Check each gearbox dipstick or level mark and inspect for leakage.
Act if: level is outside range, leakage is active or sharp gear noise is heard.
Check central/group lubrication if fitted and manual grease points/open gears.
Act if: a line is blocked, a point stays dry or lubrication is contaminated.
Inspect visible rope, reeving, drum winding, end fastenings and clamps.
Act if: broken wires, kink, crushing, corrosion, abnormal spooling or loose fastening is found.
Test upper/lower hoist limits and check travel limits, buffers and end stops.
Act if: a limit fails, operates late, is bypassed or end stops are damaged.
When handling a load near rated capacity, lift a few centimetres and confirm the brake holds.
Act if: the load creeps or the brake slips, drags or does not release correctly.
Record findings, abnormalities and unresolved defects before release.
Act if: a safety defect is open or crane status is uncertain.
All crane motions
Verify correct direction, response, stopping and abnormal noise.
Electrical contacts
Check response and visible condition; isolate before opening panels.
Hook and wire rope
Inspect wear, deformation, broken wires and rope end security.
Hoist, cross travel and long travel fasteners
Check motor, brake, gearbox, wheel, coupling and bearing housing bolts where fitted.
Girder and end carriage joints
Check joint bolt condition, alignment, cracks and repeated loosening.
Enclosed gearing
Check installed gearbox level and leakage.
Open gearing if fitted
Apply open-gear compound.
Steel wire rope
Clean and dress with compatible dressing compound.
Plain sleeve bearings with grease pump
Grease as fitted.
Track wheel sleeve grease point
Grease where the crane has this service point.
Sheave and hook block plain bearings
Grease after confirming bearing arrangement.
Enclosed gearbox initial oil change
Complete initial oil change.
Open gearing if fitted
Apply open gear compound.
Hook swivel outdoors / wire rope
Grease outdoor hook swivel and clean/dress rope where applicable.
Outdoor enclosed gearing oil
Change oil at the outdoor interval.
Outdoor greaseable antifriction bearings
Change grease at the outdoor interval where greaseable bearings are fitted.
Indoor enclosed gearing oil
Change oil at the indoor interval.
Indoor greaseable antifriction bearings
Change grease at the indoor interval where greaseable bearings are fitted.
Joystick master controller pivots
Grease at 6 months where this controller type is fitted.
Gear teeth and gear case
Inspect at least every 6 months.
Master controller roller pivots and camshaft ends
Grease at 12 months where fitted.
First pair of gearing
Replace before tooth thickness at PCD is reduced by 10%.
Other gears
Replace before tooth thickness at PCD is reduced by 20%.
Wheel flange
Replace or restore only under approved instruction before 50% reduction.
Wheel tread
Correct wheel condition before 30% reduction; rectify left/right diameter difference above 1.5%.
Sheave groove diameter
Replace sheave when wear equals 50% of wire rope diameter.
Brake lining thickness
Replace or reline before 50% reduction from full size.
Wire rope
Remove from service for kinking, birdcaging, crushing, heat damage, severe corrosion or insecure end termination.
Enclosed gearing
Use lubricant grade on installed gearbox plate or order manual. Fill to installed level mark.
Open gearing if fitted
Use specified open-gear compound and apply manually.
Steel wire rope
Use compatible rope dressing without trapping abrasive dirt.
Greaseable bearings
Use bearing-maker or order-specific grease. Do not grease sealed-for-life bearings.
Plain sleeve bearings
Apply specified grease with fitted pump or nipple.
Sheave and hook block bearings
Confirm bearing type before application.
Electro hydraulic thruster if fitted
Use BS 148 Grade B-30 only for the covered legacy thruster design; fill to level plug.
Master / joystick controller pivots
Apply thin film of acid-free grease only after electrical isolation.
Optional diesel generator
Maintain engine, alternator, cooling, battery and fuel system only under the exact installed generator documents.
Stop operation, open the main power switch and notify the supervisor. Do not clear by repeated operation.
Stop and isolate until wiring or phase fault is corrected and limits are retested.
Lower the load immediately if possible, isolate and adjust or repair the brake before use.
Land the load, isolate and remove the affected component from service for competent inspection.
Stop and tag out. Repair and complete a controlled no-load functional test before return to service.
Stop, isolate incoming supply and keep clear until a qualified electrician declares the crane safe.
Stop lifting, lower safely and verify load mass, rigging and limiter condition.
Stop lifting, park at the designated location and engage travel brakes, rail clamps and storm anchors.
Stop loaded operation. Check level and inspect gearing and mountings before further use.
Record exact code, isolate and follow installed drive or motor manual. Do not repeatedly reset.
Stop and correct reeving, fleet angle, guide or sheave condition before lifting.
