The BEML BD50 is a crawler dozer powered by the BEML BS6D105-1 turbocharged direct-injection diesel engine. It is built for construction and earthmoving work with wet main clutch, direct drive transmission, semi-rigid undercarriage, 1.76 m³ angle dozer blade, 240 L fuel tank and 12,170 kg operating mass with angle dozer.
Detailed technical specifications for BEML BD50 Crawler Dozer
Daily pre-start checks, hourmeter-based service schedule, fluid capacity guidance and warning-alert actions for the BEML BD50 crawler dozer. This section follows the supplied BEML BD50 maintenance reference. Verify site service actions, torque values and final fluid grades with the official BEML BD50 O&M manual before maintenance.
Complete before every shift. These checks take about 10-15 minutes and help prevent damage, downtime and safety incidents.
Check and correct level via oil level gauge. Replenish through oil filler up to proper level. Use BEML Engine Oil 15W40.
Act if: Level below mark, or oil visibly contaminated / milky.
Check and correct level; add oil through the gauge guide. Use BEML main clutch oil.
Act if: Level low or oil contaminated.
Check and correct transmission case including bevel gear case level. Use BEML transmission oil.
Act if: Level low or oil contaminated.
Check and correct fuel level. Top up at the end of day's run to reduce condensation.
Act if: Contamination or water visible in fuel.
Check and correct coolant level. Use clean soft water or permanent anti-freeze only.
Act if: Level low or coolant discoloured.
Check floating seals on track rollers and idlers for any sign of oil leakage.
Act if: Any visible oil leakage at seals.
Check wiring for discontinuity, short-circuiting and loose terminals.
Act if: Loose, damaged or shorting wiring found.
Check intake pipe, exhaust pipe, air cleaner and other mounting bolts / nuts for tightness.
Act if: Any bolt or nut found loose or missing.
Clean daily when operating in dusty, misty or damp conditions with dry-type air cleaner.
Act if: Pre-cleaner clogged with dust or debris.
Drain water from fuel tank in freezing conditions at day end, or at start of day during rainy / wet months.
Act if: Water or sediment found in drained fuel.
Use the hourmeter reading for service timing. Lower-interval tasks continue at higher services. 250h items are shown in the routine group and should recur every 250 hours.
Fuel filter
Drain water from the fuel filter.
Fuel tank
Drain water and sediment from the fuel tank.
Engine oil and filter
Change 24 L engine oil and replace engine oil filter element. Use BEML Engine Oil 15W40.
Valve clearance and fan belt
Inspect / adjust engine valve clearance and fan belt tension. Fan belt deflection: 25-30 mm.
Fuel filter element
Replace the fuel filter element.
Air cleaner outer element
Inspect and clean outer element. Halve interval in dusty conditions.
Radiator fins and hoses
Clean/check radiator fins and inspect hoses and clamps.
Cooling water
Change cooling water as per the 250h maintenance schedule.
Hydraulic tank and lines
Check/correct hydraulic tank oil level and drain water or sediment from hydraulic line.
Final drive and breathers
Check/correct final drive oil level each side; clean main clutch and transmission breathers.
Steering clutch case
Drain water from the steering clutch case.
Greasing points
Grease hydraulic jack pins, steering clutch shifter, idler adjusting rods, cylinder support yoke/shaft and brace points.
Track tension and shoe bolts
Check/adjust track tension to 25-40 mm midpoint clearance; check track shoe bolt tightness.
Battery electrolyte level
Check/correct electrolyte level to 10-12 mm above the plates using distilled water only.
Repeat all 250h operations
Engine oil/filter, fuel filter, air cleaner, cooling water, lubrication, track tension and drivetrain level checks recur every 250 hours.
Hydraulic tank oil and filter
Change 50 L hydraulic tank oil and replace hydraulic oil filter element. Use SAE 10W Class CD hydraulic oil.
Main clutch and transmission
Change main clutch case oil and transmission/bevel gear case oil; clean main clutch strainer.
Final drive cases
Change final drive case oil each side. Brochure lists 12 L each side; verify exact service quantity in O&M manual.
Cooling system
Flush cooling system with radiator cleaner solution and clean water.
Generator and starting motor
Check condition by authorised person only.
Air cleaner inner element
Check and clean the inner element as required.
Universal joint and diagonal brace
Grease universal joint and diagonal brace points.
Undercarriage lubrication
Check track/carrier rollers and idlers lubrication through seal bolts.
Outer and inner elements
Change both air cleaner outer and inner elements.
Adverse-condition greasing
Not a fixed 2,000h-only task. If the machine worked in water, seashore, volcanic/sulphurous environment, or was stored long-term, grease steering clutch cover, steering clutch lever shaft and blade control lever as specified.
RED = stop engine immediately. AMBER = take corrective action before continuing work.
Engine oil pressure has dropped below safe operating level.
Immediate action: Stop engine immediately. Do not restart until cause is identified. Check oil level and pump.
Risk if ignored: Engine or bearing damage from oil starvation.
Engine coolant temperature has exceeded safe operating limit.
Immediate action: Idle down safely and stop engine. Check coolant level, radiator and fan before restart.
Risk if ignored: Overheating damage such as head gasket or cylinder damage.
Alternator is not charging the battery correctly.
Immediate action: Reduce non-essential electrical load and have charging system checked before next shift.
Risk if ignored: Battery discharge and starting failure.
Reverse alarm is inaudible or malfunctioning during pre-start check.
Immediate action: Do not reverse near personnel until alarm is repaired; use a spotter in the interim.
Risk if ignored: Struck-by-vehicle incident.
