Daily Pre-Start Inspection

Complete before every shift in dusty, hot or high-impact operating conditions.

Engine oil & coolant

Park level; after a 15-minute shutdown check crankcase oil. When cold, check the 65 L cooling system, hoses, radiator and pump.

Act if: either level is low, contaminated or leaking. Do not start until corrected.

Fuel, air cleaner & exhaust

Check the 385 L fuel tank, dust indicator, pre-cleaner bowl, intake hoses, exhaust and turbocharger.

Act if: fuel is contaminated, the indicator is red, or exhaust/turbo leaks or unusual noise are present.

Hydraulic & driveline fluids

With blade lowered, check hydraulic sight glass, transmission, main-clutch and both final-drive oil levels.

Act if: any level is low, hydraulic oil is milky or a leak is visible.

Electrical & instruments

Inspect both batteries and 24 V connections; verify gauges, warning lamps, tachometer, hour meter and display self-test.

Act if: battery damage is present or oil-pressure/high-temperature warnings remain on.

Main clutch & gear selection

Test smooth clutch engagement/disengagement, inertia brake and all 5 forward/4 reverse selections.

Act if: the clutch slips, the lever is heavy, or gears grind or fail to engage.

Steering & brakes

Test both steering clutches and both contracting-band steering brakes for equal response.

Act if: steering is unequal, brakes are spongy or pedal travel is excessive. Do not operate on slopes.

Track tension & shoes

Check track sag, 560 mm shoes, grousers, links and shoe bolts on both sides.

Act if: sag is excessive, links are cracked, hardware is loose or grousers are missing.

Rollers, idlers & sprockets

Inspect track/carrier rollers, idlers, sprockets and floating seals for wear, seizure or leakage.

Act if: a seal leaks, a roller is seized or an idler/sprocket is damaged.

Blade, cylinders & cutting edge

Inspect both lift cylinders, pins, bushes, blade structure, cutting edge and bolts; check for cylinder drift.

Act if: rods are scored, seals leak, the blade drifts or the edge is worn to base metal.

Walk-around & guards

Walk around for fluid puddles, frame cracks and loose guards; test lamps and keep the work area clear.

Act if: an active leak, structural crack, loose cover or unsafe site condition is found.

Greasing points

Grease blade pivots, steering and clutch linkages, track adjuster and other accessible pins with lithium NLGI No. 2 grease.

Act if: nipples are dry or old grease does not purge—continue until fresh grease appears.
