Tata LPK 2518 RMC Maintenance Checklist
Daily pre-start checks · Kilometre-based service schedule · Warning alerts and immediate actions for the Tata LPK 2518 RMC transit mixer.
Daily Pre-Start Checklist
Complete every check before starting the engine or loading concrete. Allow approximately 10 minutes.
Engine Oil
On level ground with a cold engine, check the dipstick is between MIN and MAX.
Act if: low—top up with the approved grade. Milky or foamy oil—report immediately.
Engine Coolant
Check the radiator overflow reservoir is between MIN and MAX.
Act if: low—top up with approved coolant. Never open the cap while the engine is hot.
Fuel & Sedimenter
Maintain at least a quarter tank and drain water from the fuel pre-filter bowl.
Act if: water or contamination is present—drain and inspect before starting.
Air Pressure & Warning Lamps
Build air pressure to the safe range; check oil, charge, coolant and brake lamps at key-on and after start.
Act if: low-pressure warning or any active fault remains—do not move the vehicle.
Mixer Drum & Chute
Check for hardened concrete, worn or loose blades, smooth rotation, unusual vibration, and secure chute pins.
Act if: noise, vibration or damaged components are found—stop and inspect before loading.
Water Tank & Pump
Check water level, tank, hoses and pump for leaks; test spray nozzles for blockage.
Act if: blocked or leaking—clean or repair before the next load.
Drum-Drive Hydraulics
Check reservoir level and inspect hoses, pump, motor and fittings for leaks or cracks.
Act if: low level, an active leak or damaged hose is found—do not operate the drum.
Tyres
Walk around all 10 tyres; check pressure loss, cuts, bulges and clearance between dual rear tyres.
Act if: damaged or deflated—replace or correct before travel.
Leak Walk-Round
Check beneath the chassis for engine oil, fuel, coolant, hydraulic oil and air leaks.
Act if: any active leak is found—tag out and repair before operation.
Lights, Horn & Mirrors
Test headlights, indicators, reverse lamp, reverse alarm and horn; adjust mirrors.
Act if: any safety device fails—repair it before the shift.
Service Schedule by Kilometres
Intervals are cumulative and time limits apply whichever comes first. Use CHANGE REPLACE INSPECT GREASE CHECK and CLEAN as indicated.
Fluid levels and leaks
Engine oil, coolant, fuel, hydraulic fluid and under-chassis leaks.
Air pressure, tyres and safety devices
Confirm safe air pressure, tyre condition, lamps, horn and reverse alarm.
Drum, blades, chute and hydraulics
Inspect rotation, build-up, wear, pins, hoses, pump and drum motor.
Water system
Check water level, leaks, pump, strainer and spray nozzles.
Air filter and V-belts
Inspect restriction indicator, filter element, fan belt and alternator belt.
Fuel pre-filter and main filter
Drain water, clean sedimenter and check for restriction.
Clutch free play
Check and adjust the 380 mm clutch pedal free play if required.
G750 gearbox and RA109 RX axle
Check oil level and inspect selector, output, hub and pinion seals.
Propshaft, kingpins and steering joints
Apply EP2 lithium-complex grease to all specified points.
Wheel nuts and brakes
Torque all wheel nuts; inspect linings, drums and slack adjusters.
Drum support and drive
Inspect rollers, bearings, gear or chain mesh and motor mounting.
Hydraulic hoses and fittings
Check for chafing, cracking, loose fittings and seepage.
Engine oil
Change using approved CI4 Plus 15W-40 oil; confirm exact fill quantity.
Oil and fuel filters
Replace the engine oil filter and main fuel filter; flush sedimenter bowl.
Primary air filter
Replace primary element and inspect the safety element if fitted.
Coolant
Check level and concentration; flush or replace when due.
Gearbox and rear axle oils
Check and top up; change only at the confirmed interval and grade.
Brakes
Inspect linings, drums and slack-adjuster settings; adjust as required.
Water tank, strainer and pump
Remove rust and sediment; clear blocked spray nozzles.
Drum, cradle and mounts
Inspect blades, build-up, bearing seals, chassis welds and mounting points.
Engine oil and filter
Change approved CI4 Plus 15W-40 oil and filter even at low running hours.
G750 gearbox oil
Drain and refill with the confirmed grade and fill volume.
RA109 RX differential and hub oil
Drain and refill differential and both hubs with confirmed lubricant.
Clutch, front hubs and kingpins
Inspect clutch wear; regrease hub bearings and inspect bushes.
Brake system
Overhaul linings, drums and slack adjusters; replace parts at wear limits.
Drum-drive hydraulic oil and filter
Change fluid and filter; pressure-test pump and motor; inspect aged hoses.
Mixer drum assembly
Inspect shell, blades, water-ring seal and support rollers; replace worn parts.
Electrical system and coolant
Test battery, alternator and warning circuits; flush and replace coolant.
Warning Alerts & Immediate Actions
RED means stop immediately. AMBER requires corrective action before continuing. VISUAL items depend on the driver's walk-round inspection.
Low Engine Oil Pressure
Oil level is critically low or the lubrication pump has failed.
Immediate action: stop the engine. Do not restart; check the oil level, sump and oil lines.
Risk if ignored: engine seizure and catastrophic damage.
Engine Overheating
Coolant is critically low or the cooling system has failed.
Immediate action: stop the engine, allow it to cool naturally, then inspect coolant, hoses and radiator.
Risk if ignored: blown head gasket or warped cylinder head.
Low Air Pressure
The compressor or air system may have failed, compromising the brakes.
Immediate action: park immediately, apply the parking brake and do not move the truck.
Risk if ignored: complete brake failure and loss of control.
Hydraulic Drum-Drive Failure
A pump, hose or motor fault has stopped drum rotation under load.
Immediate action: stop drum operation. Do not force it; check oil level and hose integrity.
Risk if ignored: concrete setting in the drum and major recovery damage.
High Engine Temperature
Coolant level may be marginal or airflow partially blocked.
Immediate action: reduce load, idle the engine and inspect coolant level and radiator blockage.
Risk if ignored: escalation to severe overheating.
Air Filter Restriction
Dust has choked the primary air-filter element.
Immediate action: stop and clean or replace the primary element.
Risk if ignored: power loss and turbocharger damage.
Clutch Slip or Burning Smell
The clutch plate may be worn or pedal free play incorrect.
Immediate action: reduce load and have clutch free play and lining checked before the next trip.
Risk if ignored: complete clutch failure and immobilisation.
Tyre Damage
A sidewall cut, bulge or sudden pressure loss is visible.
Immediate action: stop and replace the affected tyre; check dual-tyre clearance.
Risk if ignored: blowout and loss of control.
Drum Noise or Vibration
Support rollers may be worn or hardened concrete may have unbalanced the drum.
Immediate action: stop, inspect rollers and bearings, and remove hardened build-up.
Risk if ignored: bearing seizure and drum-cradle damage.
Water System Blockage
Sediment or debris is blocking the strainer or spray nozzles.
Immediate action: clean the strainer, flush the nozzles and refill the tank before loading.
Risk if ignored: poor washout and accelerated concrete build-up.
