Check sight gauge on hydraulic tank with machine on level ground (90 L)
Act if: Below MIN — add Komatsu HO46-HM (ISO VG46)
Hydraulic Hoses & Cylinders
Walk around and visually inspect all hoses, fittings and cylinder rods
Act if: Any oil leak, damaged hose or weeping cylinder seal — do not operate
Engine Oil & Fluid Leaks
Inspect under engine bay, hydraulic pump area and all visible connections
Act if: Any dripping or pooling of oil or fuel — identify source before starting
Track Tension & Condition
Check track sag using hydraulic adjuster; inspect shoes for damage or missing bolts
Act if: Excessive slack or broken/missing shoes — tension or report to workshop
Undercarriage
Walk around — inspect rollers, carrier rollers, track frame, sprocket and idler
Act if: Cracked frame, missing bolts or seized rollers — do not operate
Grease Pin Joints
Grease boom foot, boom tip, arm-to-boom, arm tip, bucket pins and linkage
Act if: Pins are dry, hot or squeaking — grease before operating
Air Cleaner Restriction Indicator
Check restriction indicator on air cleaner body — red band = service required
Act if: Red indicator visible — service air cleaner element before operating
Radiator & Cooler Screens
Inspect and clean dust and debris from radiator and oil cooler screens
Act if: Screens heavily blocked — clean before operating to prevent overheating
Cab and Controls
Test horn, travel alarm, all warning lamps and lock lever before moving
Act if: Any warning lamp stays on after start-up or control malfunction — investigate before work
Walk-Around Structural
Visually inspect boom, arm, bucket, counterweight mounting bolts and welds
Act if: Visible cracks in boom/arm welds or loose counterweight bolts — do not operate

Warning Alerts & Immediate Actions
RED = stop engine immediately. AMBER = take corrective action before continuing. Confirm thresholds and monitor codes with the Komatsu PC130-7 O&M manual.
Engine Oil Pressure Low (Code C)
Engine oil pressure below the minimum safe threshold.
Immediate action: Shut down the engine IMMEDIATELY. Do NOT restart. Check oil level. Call Komatsu service.
Risk if ignored: Catastrophic engine seizure within seconds to minutes
Engine Overtemp / Coolant High (Code A)
Engine coolant temperature critically high — overheating in progress.
Immediate action: Stop all work. Idle 2 minutes then shut down. Do NOT open the radiator cap when hot. Call service.
Risk if ignored: Warped cylinder head, blown head gasket, seized engine
Battery / Charging Fault (Code B)
Alternator not charging — battery charge critically low.
Immediate action: Park safely. Inspect the alternator belt and battery terminals. Do not restart if the fault persists — call service.
Risk if ignored: Complete machine shutdown, KOMTRAX data loss
Air Cleaner Clogged (Code D)
Air cleaner severely blocked — engine starved of air.
Immediate action: Stop the machine. Clean or replace the outer element immediately before resuming operation.
Risk if ignored: Turbo damage, engine underfuelling, power loss, black smoke
Hydraulic Oil Overheat
Hydraulic oil temperature critically high — cooling capacity exceeded.
Immediate action: Stop the machine immediately. Allow the hydraulic oil to cool with the engine at idle. Check cooler fins and oil level.
Risk if ignored: Hydraulic pump and motor seal damage, fluid breakdown, system failure
Oil Maintenance Due (Code N)
Engine oil change interval has passed.
Immediate action: Schedule the engine oil and filter change at the next service stop. Do not delay more than 10 operating hours.
Risk if ignored: Continued operation with degraded oil — accelerated wear on engine bearings
Hydraulic Oil Level Low
Hydraulic oil below the minimum level in the tank.
Immediate action: Top up with Komatsu HO46-HM. Inspect for leaks. Do not operate until the source is identified.
Risk if ignored: Hydraulic pump cavitation — pump damage and seal failure
Fuel Level Low
Fuel tank approaching empty — risk of air ingestion into the fuel system.
Immediate action: Refuel at the next opportunity. Do not allow the tank to run dry — bleeding will be required.
Risk if ignored: Air lock in fuel system, engine shutdown, difficult restart requiring a technician
Track Tension / Undercarriage Wear
Track sag exceeds the acceptable range or undercarriage components worn.
Immediate action: Inspect track sag (standard: 320–360 mm). Adjust tension or schedule an undercarriage inspection.
Risk if ignored: Accelerated track and roller wear, track de-railing, costly undercarriage replacement
Swing Lock On (Code M)
Swing lock engaged — machine cannot rotate the superstructure.
Immediate action: Disengage the swing lock before starting swing operations.
Risk if ignored: Machine locked in travel-only mode; swing operations disabled
