SANY SY220C-9 Maintenance Checklist
Daily pre-start checks · Service schedule by hours · Warning alert actions — for general earthmoving, quarry and construction duty
Daily Pre-Start Checklist
Complete these checks before every shift. They take about 10–15 minutes and help prevent damage, downtime and safety incidents.
Engine Oil Level
Dipstick — wipe clean, reinsert, then pull again to read.
Act if: below MIN — top up SAE 15W-40. White foam in oil — stop machine immediately.
Engine Coolant Level
Check the overflow reservoir on the engine side.
Act if: below MIN — top up coolant mix. Brown/dirty coolant — plan a flush.
Hydraulic Oil Level
Retract boom/arm fully with the bucket flat on the ground, then check the sight glass.
Act if: below visible range — top up. Milky white colour — water contamination, stop machine.
Fuel Level
Check the fuel gauge. Drain water from the sediment bowl.
Act if: below ¼ tank — refuel before the shift. Never run dry.
Air Filter Indicator
Check the red indicator lamp on the dashboard / the indicator on the filter housing.
Act if: red zone or indicator popped — clean or replace the primary element before starting.
Walk-Around Leak Check
Walk a full circle — check the ground under the machine and all hoses/joints.
Act if: any active oil drip or puddle — find the source and repair before starting.
Track Tension
Check sag in the track upper run — target 10–30 mm sag.
Act if: sag exceeds 50 mm — adjust tension. Very tight / no sag — loosen to prevent damage.
Bucket Teeth & Cutting Edge
Push/pull the bucket and inspect teeth and the cutting edge for wear.
Act if: worn teeth or a broken adapter — replace before work.
Horn & Backup Alarm
Press the horn button; test the backup alarm.
Act if: any failure — fix before the shift. Backup alarm not working — do not operate.
Seatbelt & Cab Safety
Pull the belt out fully and latch firmly. Check lockout lever operation.
Act if: belt frayed or faulty — replace before operating. The lockout lever must click into park.
Grease All Pin Points
Grease gun on boom, arm, bucket, linkage and swing-bearing nipples.
Every 8–10 hours minimum. If no old grease comes out, keep applying until it exits the joint.
Service Schedule by Hourmeter
Use the hourmeter reading for service timing — do not delay if a service is due. CHANGE / REPLACE = fluid or filter renewal CHECK / INSPECT = verify condition.

Warning Alerts & Immediate Actions
Indicators appear on the DOMCS instrument panel. RED = stop the engine immediately. AMBER = take action before continuing work.
Engine Oil Pressure
Oil pressure has dropped — the engine is running without lubrication.
Immediate action: STOP ENGINE IMMEDIATELY. Do not wait. Find the cause before restarting.
Risk if ignored: complete engine seizure — irreversible. Contact your SANY dealer.
Engine Overheating
Engine overheating — coolant failing, radiator blocked, or fan failure.
Immediate action: stop work. Idle 2 minutes then shut down. Check coolant and radiator.
Risk if ignored: warped cylinder head, blown head gasket, seized engine.
Battery / No Charge
Alternator not charging the battery — electrical system failing.
Immediate action: check the drive belt and alternator terminal connections immediately.
Risk if ignored: machine will not restart — battery dies mid-shift.
Hydraulic Oil Temperature
Hydraulic oil overheating — system overloaded or the oil cooler is blocked.
Immediate action: stop work. Idle 10–15 minutes with no hydraulic movement to cool the system.
Risk if ignored: pump seal failure, cylinder damage, control valve damage.
Air Filter Restriction
Air filter blocked — the engine is not getting enough clean air.
Immediate action: stop work. Remove and inspect the outer air filter. Clean or replace.
Risk if ignored: power loss, black smoke, overheating, injector and turbo damage.
Hydraulic Leak / Pressure Drop
Hydraulic pressure drop — a hose, joint or seal has failed.
Immediate action: stop all work. Do not operate. Locate and repair the leak before restarting.
Risk if ignored: total hydraulic failure, uncontrolled attachment movement, fire risk.
Low Fuel
Fuel level near empty — approximately 10–15% remaining.
Immediate action: refuel as soon as possible. Do not run dry.
Risk if ignored: running dry pulls tank sediment into the injectors — expensive repair.
Travel Motor Temperature
Final drive / travel motor oil has overheated.
Immediate action: stop machine travel. Check the final drive oil level and cooler.
Risk if ignored: final drive failure — major undercarriage repair required.
